Ai Weiwei
Wave Plate, 2014
Porcelain
55 x 54 x 11.2 cm (21 5/8 x 21 1/4 x 4 3/8 in)
From a series of unique variants
Ai Weiwei was born in 1957 in Beijing and shortly afterward his father, the poet Ai Qing, was sent to a labour camp as an enemy of the revolution. The family lived in exile until 1976. Ai attended the Beijing Film Academy from 1978 through 1981, after which he relocated to the United States until 1993, settling in New York and briefly attending Parsons School of Design. Ai’s practice, which encompasses architecture, Conceptual art, curating, installation, and photography, is driven by the artist’s social activism.
Ai uses art as a means of confronting the sociopolitical system in China. His recurrent manipulations of Chinese cultural artefacts juxtapose the materiality and tradition of the country’s imperial history with symbols of the current phase of its modernisation. This can be seen in the artist’s many works either incorporating or recreating antique Chinese vases and other porcelain objects. Ai has long faced censorship from the Chinese government and was detained for 81 days in 2011 after he was found guilty on charges of tax evasion that are widely thought to have been politically motivated. Despite being prohibited from travelling outside of China or engaging in public speech, Ai continues to create works that openly criticise the Chinese Communist leadership and advocate democracy and freedom of expression.
Ai is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, including the Chinese Contemporary Art Award (2008); the Skowhegan Medal (2011); Honorary Academician at the Royal Academy of Arts, London (2011); and the Václav Havel Prize for Creative Dissent (2012). His work has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions at venues including the Mori Art Museum, Tokyo (2009); Tate Modern, London (2010); Taipei Fine Art Museum (2011); Asia Society, New York (2011); Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington D.C. (2012); and Indianapolis Museum of Art (2013). Ai’s group shows include those at the Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco (2008); Museum für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt (2010); and Museum of Modern Art, New York (2011, 2012). His work has also been shown at Documenta, Kassel, Germany (2007); the São Paulo Biennial (2010); Venice Architecture Biennale (2010); and Venice Biennale (2013). Ai lives and works in Beijing.

Roberto Matta
Magitair, 1991
Bronze, Lifetime Cast
654 x 30 x 29 cm (60 2/3 x 11 ¾ x 11 ½ inches)
Edition 2/6
Titled, numbered and signed on plinth
Roberto Matta was born in Santiago, Chile, in 1911. He studied architecture in Santiago, before moving to Europe in 1933, taking a position as a draughtsman in the studio of Le Corbusier in Paris, which he held until 1937. Through family in Spain and Portugal, Matta was introduced to the poets Federico García Lorca, Gabriela Mistral, and Pablo Neruda, who introduced Matta to Salvador Dalí, who in turn introduced him to André Breton. Around 1937, Matta joined the Surrealist group and made his first paintings, called “inscapes” or “psychological morphologies,” characterised by bright colours and the fusion of architectural space and biomorphic forms.
In 1939, Matta moved to the United States where he formed relationships with the new generation of New York painters such as Arshile Gorky and Robert Motherwell, and is often credited with playing an integral role in the development of Abstract Expressionism. During the mid-1940s Matta regularly visited with Marcel Duchamp, and his style increasingly encompassed anthropomorphic figuration instead of pure abstraction. In 1948, Matta returned to Paris and left the Surrealist group. In the 1960s and 1970s, Matta became involved in Latin American politics, supporting the Cuban revolutionaries as well as the pro-government mural painters surrounding Chilean president Salvador Allende. He continued to paint and exhibit throughout his later years while living between London, Milan, Paris, and Tarquinia, Italy until his death in 2001.
Matta had his first solo exhibition in 1940 at the Julien Levy Gallery in New York and subsequently exhibited at the Pierre Matisse Gallery and Peggy Guggenheim’s Art of This Century. In 1957, the Museum of Modern Art in New York hosted the first major retrospective of Matta’s work. Retrospectives were also held at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris in 1985, and at the Museo Reina Sofia in Madrid in 1999. In 2001, an exhibition of Matta’s paintings and drawings made during his time in the United States opened at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, and in 2006 the San Diego Museum of Art hosted an exhibition featuring Matta’s work alongside that of his son Gordon Matta-Clark.

Mr. Brainwash
BB, The Icon, 2024
Silkscreen and mixed media on canvas with gold frame
210.8 x 158.8 cm (83 x 62 1/2 in)
Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity
For more than a decade, Thierry Guetta, under his moniker, Mr. Brainwash, has been pushing the envelope of contemporary art, attracting the attention of critics and celebrities alike. Innovative and fearless, he uses elements from pop art’s past and the raw components of his street art beginnings to create larger-than-life exhibitions and collaborations.
The tipping point for Mr. Brainwash was his inclusion in the widely acclaimed and Oscar-nominated documentary, Exit Through the Gift Shop, which traces the evolution of the street-art movement through artists like Mr. Brainwash and Banksy.
Mr. Brainwash navigates between the worlds of film, celebrity culture, music, and sports—designing album covers for Madonna and Rick Ross, partnering with brands like Hublot and Coca-Cola, and showcasing his art on television shows such as Billions and Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
In addition to solo exhibitions, speaking engagements at UCLA, Columbia University, and Semi Permanent, Australia’s largest creative conference, and annual residencies at Art Basel, he recently inaugurated The Mr. Brainwash Art Museum—the first contemporary art museum in the world created and run by a living artist—with the ongoing exhibition Enter Through the Museum, a nod to Exit Through the Gift Shop.
Passionate about giving back to the community, he continues to donate artwork in support of the Los Angeles LGBT Center, created commemorative 9/11 murals, and partnered with Product (RED) to raise AIDS awareness. Mr. Brainwash also lends yearly support to organisations such as The Prince’s Trust and has worked with Michelle Obama and Pope Francis on youth-focused initiatives.

Richard Hambleton
Ice Cream, 2016
Painted 1977 Chevy Van, black acrylic on aluminium, fibreglass and glass, neon
482.6 x 188 x 271.8 cm (190 x 74 x 107 in.)
Edition 1 of 1
Richard Hambleton (1952-2017) was the pioneer and godfather of the street-art movement and was one of the most important figures of the downtown New York 1980s art scene, along with Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. As a conceptual artist, Hambleton produced work using the urban canvas to evoke public reaction. He was reputed to be an elusive genius. Richard Hambleton was the original pop expressionist, creating unforgettable images that have permeated our collective consciousness for over four decades.
By the start of the 1980s, Hambleton expanded his street art to a successful studio practice, with his artworks outselling even those of his fellow art-world leaders Basquiat and Haring. In the late 1980s, however, Hambleton retreated from the art world, refusing to be commercially represented. But his reputation as one of the few living masters meant that his escape from the spotlight would always be short-lived. Since the early 2010s, interest in his work has seen a major worldwide resurgence in reaction to his clear genius, including a 2017 documentary, Shadowman.
Hambleton was best known for his recurring motif of a black-silhouetted figure known as the Shadowman, which appears throughout this work. “I painted the town black,” he once said.
Born on 23 June 1952 in Vancouver, Canada, he studied at the Vancouver School of Art before settling in New York in 1979. The artist died on 29 October 2017 in New York City. Today, Hambleton’s works are held in the collections of top museums including the Brooklyn Museum, the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, and The Museum of Modern Art, among others.
This work is completely unique.

Printed in 2024 in an edition of two
Christopher Makos is known internationally for his explosive and innovative photography. An important exhibit of his photographs of Andy Warhol is currently on view at the Lázaro Galdiano Museum in Madrid (through 25 July), and a number of his photographs were part of a group exhibition at the Art Gallery of South Africa in the spring of 2023. Additionally, Makos is featured throughout the recent hit Netflix series: The Andy Warhol Diaries.
Makos became a prominent figure in the New York downtown art scene where he befriended and created raw, indelible portraits of the likes of Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Salvador Dalí, Halston, Patti Smith, Mick Jagger and Jean-Michel Basquiat. With an incredible eye for emerging artists, Makos is responsible for introducing the work of Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring to Andy Warhol. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, he grew up in California and went on to study architecture in Paris before briefly working as an apprentice for the famed Surrealist photographer Man Ray.
His photographs have been exhibited in more than 100 museums and galleries, including the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao; the Tate Modern in London; the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York; the IVAM in Valencia, Spain; the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid; and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

David Yarrow
Brigitte and Le Club 55, (Diptych) 2024
Archival pigment print
132.1 x 228.6 cm (52 x 90 in) and 132.1 x 195.6 cm (52 x 77 in)
Edition 12/12 and 10/12
Signed and numbered by the artist
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, David took up photography at an early age and as a 20-year-old found himself working as a photographer for The London Times on the pitch at the World Cup Final in Mexico City, where he captured the iconic image Maradona. However, after university, David went into banking and went on to launch a hedge fund – an industry he spent many years in. In 2014, he sold the fund to return to what had really been his passion all along. He is now one of the best-selling photographers in the world.
This selection of two photographs by David Yarrow is an homage to Brigitte Bardot and the 1958 film And God Created Woman that both made Bardot a star and solidified her connection to Saint-Tropez in the public consciousness forever.
The Riva Aquarama “Dracula” on which model Frida Aasen stands to embody Bardot is the actual boat on which many photographs of Bardot were taken when its owner Gunter Sachs was romancing the star. The harbour hasn’t changed much since 1958, and the nearby La Ponche Hotel, where Bardot stayed during the making of the movie, is still very much in operation and was the HQ for this shoot.
The beach of Club 55 itself was a backdrop both for scenes from And God Created Woman and iconic photographs of Brigitte Bardot at lunch with Alain Delon in a long beaded necklace in 1968. The club retains its unique vibe to this day thanks to the incredible stewardship of owner Patrice de Colmont, and for Yarrow, this picture is of people protecting their story, their beach and their club.

Slim Aarons
Portfolio of Ten Iconic Photographs from Saint-Tropez and the South of France
Limited edition C-type colour photographic prints, Estate Stamped
76.2 x 101.6 cm (30 x 40 in)
George ‘Slim’ Aarons (1916-2006) was the twentieth century’s premier lifestyle photographer. After serving on the front lines of WWII as an Army photographer, Slim turned from documenting the horrors of conflict to focusing on what became his well-known mantra: photographing attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places.
Working throughout his career with magazines like Life, Holiday, and Town & Country gave Aarons the chance to document the jet-set lifestyle of Hollywood stars, American and European socialites, and other celebrated figures. His approach was simple; he let the natural opulence of his subjects and their surroundings illuminate his lens. Aarons’ access to this elite group of subjects speaks to the genuine friendship and confidence he nurtured with his subjects. The 1974 publication of A Wonderful Time: An Intimate Portrait of the Good Life solidified Aaron’s place as a notable photojournalist and documentarian of the “good life” and was later followed by the publications of Slim Aarons: Once Upon a Time (2003), Slim Aarons: A Place in the Sun (2005), and Poolside with Slim Aarons (2007). Aarons’ work has been shown in both solo and group exhibitions around the world at institutions such as the Torch Gallery, Amsterdam, in 2006; M+B gallery, Los Angeles, in 2007; and at the Yancey Richardson Gallery, New York, in 2008.
This collection of ten prints from Saint-Tropez and the vicinity was specially curated for the Summer Gala by Gala One Saint-Tropez and exemplifies Aarons’ signature style.

Elvis Presley, the King of Rock and Roll, is one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century and best-selling musical artists of all time. Singer of era-defining hits like “Jail House Rock” and “Love Me Tender,” Elvis was a cultural force like none other. He defined American popular culture from the ‘50s onwards, and was even the subject of two recent major Hollywood films. His work, objects and paraphilia are iconographic. Everything he owned is a symbol of not only classic rock but of the free-wheeling, bold, yet determinedly refined period in which he was made the “King.”
This beautiful mid-1950s gentleman’s gold Rolex Oyster Perpetual was personally owned and worn by Elvis Presley—with many reference photos, two of which are included opposite. The provenance of this watch is impeccable: Elvis gifted the watch to his personal friend, the President of the Elvis Presley Fan Club in Memphis, Gary Pepper, and the watch was kept in the possession of Pepper’s family after his passing.
This Rolex watch, reference number 6593, has a 1030 calibre, Movement number 521777 and serial number 75174.
Documentation for this watch includes the following:
- Letter of Authenticity from Elvis Presley Museum (signed by the President and CEO; this is the best type of paperwork for Elvis-owned items)
- Letter of Authenticity from Jeffrey Marren (former Director of Graceland Auctions)
- Letter of Authenticity from Jon Daly (dealer of Elvis Presley memorabilia)
- Letter of Authenticity from Alexander Bitar History (international dealer of high-end collectibles)
- Letter of Provenance from James Tate (Gary Pepper’s cousin)
- The watch was mentioned in court documents: 686 F.3d 658 (2012) United States Court of Appeals For the Eighth Circuit No. 11-2764 “a Rolex Oyster watch given to Gary by Elvis”
The auction record for a watch that’s been owned by Elvis Presley was set in 2018 when it sold for $1.8 million USD. Notably, that watch was accompanied by a letter of authenticity from The Elvis Presley Museum, as is this one!

David LaChapelle
Aristocracy: Private Pirates
Los Angeles, 2014
152.4 x 121.8 cm (60 x 48 in)
Chromogenic print
Edition 2 of 3
Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and provenance
David LaChapelle was born in Connecticut in 1963 and attended high school at North Carolina School of The Arts. Originally enrolled as a painter, he developed an analogue technique by hand-painting his own negatives to achieve a sublime spectrum of colour before processing his film. At age 17, LaChapelle moved to New York City. Following his first photography show at Gallery 303, he was hired by Andy Warhol to work at Interview Magazine.
Through his mastery of colour, unique composition, and imaginative narratives, LaChapelle began to expand the genre of photography. His staged tableau, portrait and still life works challenged devices of traditional photography and his work quickly gained international interest. By 1997, The New York Times predicted, “LaChapelle is certain to influence the work of a new generation...in the same way that Mr. Avedon pioneered so much of what is familiar today.”
In the decades since, LaChapelle has become one of the most published photographers throughout the world with an anthology of books including LaChapelle Land (1996), Hotel LaChapelle (1999), Heaven to Hell (2006), Lost & Found, and Good News (2017). Simultaneously, his work has expanded into music video, film and stage projects. His 2005 feature film Rize was released theatrically in 17 countries. Many of his still and film works have become iconic archetypes of America in the 21st Century.
In the past 30 years, LaChapelle has exhibited internationally in galleries and museums including the National Portrait Gallery (London), Musee de Monnaie (Paris), Barbican Centre (London), Victoria and Albert Museum (London), Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Musee D’Orsay (Paris), Groninger Museum (The Netherlands), Palazzo delle Esposizioni (Rome), Palazzo Reale (Milano), National Portrait Gallery (Washington D.C.), Casa dei Tre Oci (Venice), La Venaria Reale (Turin), MUDEC (Milan), Fotografiska (New York) and Salone Degli Incanti (Trieste).

Derived from the prototypes built after WWII and launched in 1950, the Riva Ariston is the only model that was present in the boatyard’s price list throughout Carlo Riva’s management, but it was subject to continual updating to keep it worthy of its name, Ariston, “the best of the best.”
In the spirit of this tradition, Lanéva presents the first fully electric Ariston: the Naïade.
Built in 1961, the Naïade is hull number 355. The boat navigated for more than 20 years on Lago Maggiore in Northern Italy with her former owner Bart. It was then taken over by the Bellini shipyard, before finding its present home on the Mediterranean with Lanéva under the Monegasque flag.
The Naïade joined the Riva Club of France in 2023 and participated in the Revia Revival in Saint-Tropez in May, 2023. This marked the first time that a 100% electric Riva Ariston participated in the event!
The classic Ariston model is particularly sought-after both by collectors and amateur lovers of pleasure boats.
Lanéva is a multi-faceted design and technological company specialising in electric propulsion for private and professional boats. The electric conversion received support from the Mission for Energy Transition of the Prince of Monaco’s Government.
